CAIRO - 7 March 2022: Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) for Financial Inclusion Sherif Luqman said the CBE aims to provide banking services and products to all citizens throughout Egypt on an equal basis.

In statements to MENA during his participation in a fintech conference organized by Al-Ahram Establishment under the auspices of the Cabinet and the CBE, Luqman pointed out to CBE’s efforts to provide financial education to citizens in a way that makes them aware of the benefits of dealing with banks and how they can make use of banking services and products in all personal, social and economic aspects of their lives.

The official noted that Egypt’s financial inclusion rate surged over 100 percent in five years, exceeding 55 percent by the end of 2021.

CBE’s financial inclusion initiatives target all segments of society, Luqman added.

In addition to its participation in programs of the Decent Life Presidential Initiative, the CBE is taking part in six events throughout the year to continue reaching out to as many citizens as possible, targeting all segments of society, and integrating them into the formal financial system, he said.

Awareness-raising campaigns have resulted in providing financial education to more than 50,000 citizens as part of the Decent Life Initiative, he added.
