The minister pointed out that the implementation of this network represents a clear embodiment of the friendship between the Egyptian and German peoples, and that the high-speed electric train system will represent a huge qualitative leap in the means of transportation in Egypt, which will cover all parts of the Republic.

“Besides being development arteries serving the new and existing urban and industrial areas, it will contribute to reducing and shortening the travel time between governorates to more than half the time that the citizen currently takes, whether through the old train network or through the current roads linking the governorates,” he added.

For his part, Ronald Busch expressed his great happiness with what was agreed upon with the Egyptian Minister of Transport to sign the contract for the second and third lines of the speed electric train network during the coming period.

He stressed that this agreement is evidence of the strong partnership between the two sides to implement giant projects that serve the Egyptian people, stressing the future cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Transport in settling this industry in Egypt to be the gateway to Africa.

The first line of the high-speed electric train network is currently being implemented in the distance from Ain Sukhna to Matrouh, passing through the new administrative capital, El Alamein and Alexandria, with a length of about 600 km; where bridges and industrial works for tracks, stations and fences are being implemented by major Egyptian companies specialized in these fields, in addition to industrial works on roads intersecting with the train track.

The German company will implement all systems works for the project, including signals, communications, railway works, electromechanical works, and others, in addition to the manufacture and supply of mobile units of all kinds, including express trains, regional trains and electric tractors, as well as the design of the workshop and the supply and installation of its equipment.
