CAIRO - 15 February 2022: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Egypt, Tarek El Molla, along with Minister of Energy of Cyprus, Natasa Pilides, Minister of Energy of Israel, Karine El Harar, and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Jordan, Saleh Al- Kharabsheh, witnessed the signing of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) with the Boston Consulting Group on the second phase of the EMGF's long-term strategy.
The ministry said in a statement, Monday, that this is based on the results of the first phase of the long-term strategy of the EMGF, which was reviewed by the Boston Consulting Group “BCG” during the sixth ministerial meeting held in Cairo on November 25, 2021. The contract is to develop the second phase of the strategy, to present a complete strategy for the forum by mid-2022.
It added that the strategy reflects the basic objectives stipulated in the forum's charter in line with the global energy transition, emphasizing the importance of natural gas during the energy transition as it is the least carbon-intensive fossil fuel.
The second phase of the strategy was signed by Osama Mubarez, Secretary-General of the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum, and Francisco Palmieri, General Manager of the Boston Consulting Group.
