CAIRO - 15 February 2022: Minister of Transport Kamel Al Wazir met on Tuesday with a delegation of the World Bank to discuss the work progress in joint projects and future cooperation in the transport sector especially railway projects.
At the outset of the meeting, the minister hailed fruitful cooperation and partnership between the two sides in a number of service projects, pointing out that Egypt is keen to bolster cooperation with various international development partners.
He said the political leadership is keen on cooperation with international development partners in the domains of environment-friendly green transport projects including the monorail and the light electric train.
Minister Wazir said his ministry cooperates with four international companies working in the railway signal systems namely Alstom, Siemens,Thales and Hyundai.
He called on investors to invest in important rail projects such as the establishment of a company for running and operating goods transport, a company for running and operating tourist trains, an integrated service company, a company for distinguished transport (Talgo trains and air-conditioned Russian trains) and a maintenance company for overhauling and developing carriages and locomotives.
For their part, members of the delegation hailed the progress Egypt is witnessing in the transport domain.
