Supply min.: Wheat reserves sufficient for more than 5 months

ASSIUT, Egypt - 13 February 2022: Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali el-Moselhy said wheat strategic reserve is safe and will suffice for more than five months.

In statements Sunday, on the sidelines of the inauguration of an experimental center affiliated to Assiut Chamber of Commerce, the minister said the supply season for the strategic crop would start in April, adding that there would be a surplus and the strategic reserve would even be sufficient till November.

The minister said his ministry has adopted a number of measures to secure wheat reserves and worked on diversifying its import origins.

He added that wheat prices declined over the past two weeks, as compared to the previous stage, due to market saturation that coincided with its recovery from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic that took its toll on economies.
