CAIRO - 7 February 2022: Trade exchange between Egypt and Djibouti increased 39.1 percent to $86.5 million during the first 10 months of 2021, compared to $62.2 million during the same period in 2020, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
CAPMAS noted that Egypt’s exports to Djibouti rose 37.5 percent to $82.3 million during the first 10 months of 2021, compared to $59.8 million during the same period in 2020.
The data indicated that the Egyptian imports from Djibouti amounted to $4.3 million during the first 10 months of 2021, compared to $2.4 million during the same period in 2020, with an increase of 79.2 percent.
Remittances from Egyptians working in Djibouti recorded $2.2 million during the fiscal year 2019/2020, compared to $2.4 million during the fiscal year 2018/2019, marking a decrease of 8.3%, while the remittances from Djiboutians working in Egypt amounted to $81 thousand during the fiscal year 2019/2020, compared to $185 thousand during the fiscal year 2018/2019, with a decrease of 56.2%.
The value of Djiboutian investments in Egypt amounted to $48,000 during the fiscal year 2019/2020, compared to $111,000 dollars during the 2018/2019 fiscal year, marking a decrease of 56.8 percent.
The number of Egyptians in Djibouti, according to the mission's estimates, reached 300 Egyptians until the end of 2020, while the number of Egyptians in Djibouti, according to the mission's registered, reached 46 Egyptians.
