CAIRO - 29 December 2021: Egypt’s ranking on the comprehensive health insurance index advanced to hit 70 points in 2019, compared to 65 points in 2017, 62 points in 2015, 59 points in 2010, 46 points in 2005, and 42 points in 2000, according to the Information and Decision Support Center of the Cabinet.
It revealed - in a report, Wednesday Egypt's progress in the index of achieving universal health coverage, which tracks the performance of countries in providing health services from 2000 to 2019, issued by the World Health Organization and the World Bank Group, in December 2021, according to a statement.
The center stressed that the government attaches great importance to improving health care services; As the government started the trial operation of the comprehensive health insurance system in a number of governorates, in addition to expanding the launch of health initiatives such as 100 Million Health, in addition to paying attention to the health aspect of the Presidential Initiative for a Hayah Karima, these efforts helped improve Egypt's performance in relevant international indicators.
As for the related sub-indices, Egypt scored 58 points in the non-communicable diseases index, 77 points in the health services performance index, 65 points in the infectious diseases index, and 80 points in the health at birth and childhood health index.
The assessment is based on indicator No. 3.8.1 (the goal of achieving universal health coverage) within the indicators of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, based on 14 criteria divided into 4 types of basic health services (birth health, childhood health, infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases). infectious disease, health service performance), and the index values range from 0 (worst) to 100 (best).
