CAIRO - 25 December 2021: In only nine months, Egypt’s imports of cashew nuts recorded 44,000 tons from January to September of this year, compared to 6,000 tons over the same period last year, said the state-owned Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) in a statement on Saturday.
The data showed that Uganda is the largest exporter of cashew to Egypt, while Brazil, Tanzania, and Kenya come in the second, third, and fourth ranks, respectively.
Cashew nuts have quite high nutritive value as it is enriched with protein, Vitamins D, C, and A, Iron, calcium, and potassium. However, those who are on diet should be cautious in their daily intake as only 100 grams of cashew provide 550 calories.
The health benefits of cashew boil down to enhance the cardiology health as it contains no cholesterol. Its high content of magnesium may have a role in promoting cardiovascular health and reducing the risk of heart disease and strokes.
