CAIRO – 11 July 2017: The Egyptian Ethylene and Derivatives Company (ETHYDCO) intends to increase its production of Ethylene by around 20-30 percent to reach 560,000 tons per year, Minister of Petroleum Tarek Al-Mola said Tuesday.
The minister added in press statements that the company targets raising the number of the production units to meet the increasing need of the local market and to export the surplus to get foreign currency.
The company produces around 327,000 tons of Ethylene and 268,000 tons of Polyethylene, which are used in the plastics, electronics, leather, makeup and house ware manufacturing, ETHYDCO`s CEO Saad Helal said.
Total volume of Ethylene imported from the company to the sister firms reached 65,000 tons, while total sales of Polyethylene amounted to 221,000 tons, distributed as 87,000 tons for the local market and 134,000 to be exported to 25 countries.
