Egyptian furniture exports rise to $212.1M in 10 months

CAIRO - 8 December 2021: The Egyptian Furniture Export Council announced that the sector's exports during the first 10 months of 2021 increased by about 10 percent to reach $212.1 million, compared to $192.53 million during the same period in 2020.

The Council added in a report, Wednesday, that the sector’s exports decreased during the month of October by about 28 percent, to record $21.169 million, compared to $29.23 million in October 2020.

It added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ranked first in terms of importing countries of Egyptian furniture during the first 10 months of this year, which decreased by 3.6 percent to reach about $54 million, compared to $56 million during the same period in 2020, and the United Arab Emirates came in In second place, recording $26 million, compared to $12 million, with an increase of  8.3 percent.

The report explained that Egypt's furniture exports to Iraq decreased during the first 10 months of 2021 by 4.5 percent to reach about $21 million, compared to $22 million during the same period of 2020.

The Sultanate of Oman ranked fifth in terms of countries importing Egyptian furniture, with a value of $16 million, followed by Sudan with $14 million, compared to $12 million, with a growth of 16.7 percent.

The United States of America ranked sixth in terms of importing countries of Egyptian furniture, which increased its exports to reach $12 million, compared to $7 million during the same period last year, with an increase of 71.4 percent, followed by Jordan whose exports increased 11.1 percent to about $10 million, compared to $9 million, followed by Libya, whose exports rose to $7 million, compared to $5 million, and Palestine whose exports hit  $4 million, compared to $500 thousand.

 Egyptian furniture exports to "the rest of the world" increased to $45 million, compared to $33 million, marking an increase of 36.4 percent.
