CAIRO - 8 December 2021: Egypt's non-oil exports increased during the first 10 months of 2021 by about 26 percent, to record $26.9 billion, compared to $21.35 billion during the same period in 2020.
The report of the General Organization for Export and Import Control showed that all industrial sectors achieved high growth rates during the 10 months, despite the negative repercussions of the Corona pandemic.
Egypt's exports of the chemical and fertilizer industries increased by 42 percent during the period from January to October 2021, to record about $5.5.36 billion, compared to $3.77 billion, and Egypt's exports of building materials, refractories and metal industries rose slightly by 3 percent, to reach about $5.33 billion, compared to $5.17 billion.
Moreover, Egypt's exports of food industries grew 19 percent during the first 10 months of 2021 to record $3.43 billion, compared to $2.87 billion during the same period in 2020. In addition, engineering industries exports hiked by 43 percent to $2.65 billion, compared to $1.85 billion.
The Egyptian pharmaceutical and medical industries exports amounted to about $537 million, compared to $409 million, with a growth rate of 31 percent, and the exports of "leather, shoes, leather goods and clothing" amounted to about $ 70 million, compared to $43 million, with a growth rate of 63 percent.
The report also noted that Egypt's exports of "agricultural crops" increased by 8 percent during the first 10 months of this year, to record $2.11 billion, compared to $1.95 billion during the same period in 2020, as well as exports of "printing, packaging, paper, books and technical works" by 49 percent to reach 774. $1 million up from $519 million.
Yarn and textile exports increased by 25 percent to $746 million, compared to $597 million, as well as home furnishings exports by 37 percent, to $526 million, compared to $382 million, and "ready-made garments" exports by 40 percent, to $1.62 billion in for $1.157 billion.
Egypt's exports of furniture recorded about $212 million during the period from January to October 2021, compared to $192 million during the same period in 2020, with an increase of 10 percent. Handicrafts exports also rose to about $214 million, compared to $167 million, with a growth rate of 28 percent on an annual basis.
