CAIRO – 1 October 2021: Egypt’s exports to Spain hiked 66.7 percent during the first eight months of 2021, recording $937.5 million, compared to $562.3 million during the same period of 2020, according to data from the Egyptian Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
CAPMAS added that the Egyptian imports from Spain reached $1.1 billion during the first 8 months of 2021 compared to $988.1 million during the same period in 2020, marking an increase of 15.8 percent.
The Statistics Authority indicated that the value of trade exchange between Egypt and Spain increased 34.3 percent to $2.1 billion during the first 8 months of 2021, compared to $1.6 billion during the same period in 2020.
The value of Spanish investments in Egypt amounted to $24.3 million during the first quarter of the fiscal year 2020/2021, compared to $21.6 million during the same period in 2019/2020, with an increase of 12.5 percent.
Remittances from Egyptians working in Spain decreased 15.2 percent, recording $13.9 million during the fiscal year 2019/2020, compared to $16.4 million during the fiscal year 2018/19, while the value of remittances from Spanish workers in Egypt amounted to $3.7 million during the 2019/2020 fiscal year, compared to $4.9 million during the fiscal year 2018/2019, marking a decrease of 24.8%.
The population of Egypt recorded 102.5 million people in 2021, while the population of Spain recorded 46.7 million people in 2021.
The number of Egyptians in Spain, according to the mission's estimates, reached 3,000 until the end of 2020.
