CAMPAS: Egypt’s non-oil commodity exports jumped by 40% in 9 months

CAIRO - 28 November 2021: Egypt's non-oil commodity exports rose by 40 percent in the first nine months of 2021 to record $ 29.7 billion, compared to $ 21.2 billion in the same period of 2020, official data shows.

 

In a statement released on Sunday, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed that Egypt's imports increased by 16 percent from January to September 2021 to hit $ 61 billion, against $ 52.4 billion of the corresponding period of 2020

 

The G20 countries topped Egypt's exports to international blocs with exports of $ 14.1 billion in the first nine months of 2021, followed by the EU states with exports hitting $ 9.6 billion, the CAPMAS said.

 

Arab states came in the third place with exports of $ 7.8 billion, while the G7 countries ranked fourth with exports of $ 6.3 billion, the official statistics agency added.

 

African Union (AU) countries ranked fifth with exports of $ 4 billion, followed by the COMESA countries with exports of $ 2.2 billion, the CAPMAS noted.

 

Nile Basin countries were at the bottom with exports of $ 1.1 billion.

 

The CAPMAS explained that Egypt imported 16 percent of commodities from China, 8 percent from Saudi Arabia, 7 percent from the US, 5 percent from Germany, 4 percent from Turkey and 4 percent from Russia in the first nine months of 2021.
