CAIRO –11 July 2017: Egyptian Businessmen's Association (EBA) stated Monday it will hold a meeting with the Egyptian side of the Egyptian/Romanian Business Council next Wednesday to prepare for the upcoming business forum set to be held in Bucharest by end of May.
The arrangement of the forum came in the presence of the joint business council’s chairman Hassan El-Shafei and other members of the council.
The three-day forum will be held in its fifth tournament from July 26-28 and it will be attended by Egyptian Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr, Shafei said.
Wednesday meeting will discuss possible ways to boost cooperation between the two countries in multiple fields, including the arrangement of a business mission to Romania on the sideline of the business forum to look for investment opportunities, Shafei added.
Trade volume between Egypt and Romania amounts to average of $350 million annually, $90 million of which are Egyptian export, mainly oil, petroleum products, rice, fresh and frozen fish, medicines and pharmaceuticals, cement, textiles, fruits and vegetables.
In turn, Egypt imports from Romania stood at $260 million. The imports’ list included wood, chemical products, railway carriages' parts, agricultural tractors, buses, as well as metals, especially iron and steel.
Economic and commercial relations between the two countries are evolving as well based on several previous mutual agreements.
