Maait: Over LE 24B allocated to health sector to face Covid-19

CAIRO - 13 October 2021: Finance Minister Mohamed Maait said that over LE24 billion Egyptian  were provided to the health sector to face Covid-19 pandemic and nearly 47 billion Egyptian pounds were allocated to the education sector to support the education system.
 
Maait added at a weekly meeting of the Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, that some 45 billion Egyptian pounds of dues of the fund for insurance and pension have been paid.
 
The State has also been acting to up the volume of public investments in order to carry out the presidential initiative "Decent Life" projects, Maait further said.
 
All this has contributed to increasing public expenditure by nearly 16.2%, according to him.
 
The finance minister talked to the cabinet about financial performance indices in a span of three months between July and September and reviewed an assessment report on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2021/2022.
 
Despite negative impacts of the coronavirus pandemic on economic activities, the State was keen on meeting needs of the different sectors, with special focus on those of health and education, Maait pointed out.
