Arab, foreign organizations selling push EGX into red during Thursday

CAIRO – 18 August 2021: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Thursday’s session in red, losing around LE 5.35 million of market capitalization, amid Arab and foreign organizations selling.

 

The benchmark EGX30 declined 0.91 percent, or 99.26 points, to end at 10,808.7 points.

 

The equally weighted index EGX 50 decreased 0.72 percent, or 17.36 points, to end at 2,402.84 points.

 

The small and mid-cap index EGX 70 dropped 0.83 percent, or 24.38 points, to close at 2,908.04 points, and the broader index EGX 100 dipped 0.84 percent, or 32.85 points, to close at 3,870.19 points.

 

Market capitalization lost around LE 5.35 billion, recording LE 715.21 billion, compared to LE 720.55 billion in Wednesday’s session.

 

The trading volume reached 442.87 million shares, traded through 57,568 transactions, with a turnover of LE 1.89 billion.


 

Egyptian investors were net buyers at LE 12.06 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net sellers at LE 8.06 million, and LE 3.99 million, respectively.

 

Egyptian, Arab, and foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 58.23 million, LE 36.66 million, and LE 21.66 million, respectively.

 

Egyptian, Arab, and foreign organizations sold at LE 46.17 million, LE 44.72 million, and LE 25.66 million, respectively. 

 

International Co for Investment & Development, Grand Investment Capital, and El Kahera El Watania Investment were top gainers of the session at 9.68 percent, 9.54 percent and 9.35 percent, respectively.

 

 

Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank- Egypt, Delta Sugar, and Acrow Misr were top losers of the session by 6.29 percent, 5.72 percent, and 5.53 percent, respectively.

 

 

EGX ended Tuesday on mixed note, as: EGX30 declined 0.27 percent, while EGX 50 increased 0.01 percent, EGX 70 inched up 0.43 percent, and EGX 100 hiked 0.19 percent.
