CAIRO – 18 August 2021: The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development will launch soon an economic indicators database for its researchers, and mulls making available some indicators to other researchers.

The database is part of the internal platform for mechanization and digital transformation at the ministry. It is aimed at facilitating the sharing and availability of data by all researchers at the ministry.

The indicators include prices, labor market, national accounts, poverty index, external sector, financial and monetary sectors, governmental finance sector, industrial indicators, and population indicators.

“Each database includes a large number of sub-indicators with a total of more than 500 sub-indicators. The platform provides an advanced search feature that allows combining a large number of indicators quickly, while filtering the data according to the required years,” Monica George, a member of the Technical Office of the Deputy Minister of Planning said in a conference held Tuesday on the matter, said.

Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El-Said called on researchers in the ministry to access the platform as soon as it is launched to try using it, and to send the necessary proposals via e-mail.

Said further explained that the platform will represent a research reference characterized by ease and order in presenting data, with the possibility of making some indicators available to researchers not working for the ministry.
