CAIRO – 28 July 2021: The Egyptian Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) issued a report on the volume of foreign trade between Egypt and the United States during the years 2020-2029.
CAPMAS stated in a statement, Wednesday, that the Egyptian imports from the United States of America amounted to $4693.5 million in 2020, representing 6.7 percent of Egypt's imports from the world, compared to $4999.5 million in 2019, marking a decrease of 6.1 percent.
It stated that imports represented in grains, oil fruits and medicinal plants ranked first with a rate of 32.5 percent of the total imports from the United States of America, reaching $1523.9 million in 2020, compared to $1144.3 million in 2019, marking an increase of 33.2 percent.
The Egyptian exports to the United States amounted to $1622.7 million in 2020, representing 5.9 percent of Egypt's exports to the world, compared to $2,205.0 million in 2019, with a decrease of 26.4 percent.
Exports of ready-made garments ranked first, with 50.1 percent of the total exports to the United States of America, which amounted to $812.3 million in 2020, compared to $949.0 million in 2019, with a decrease of 14.0 percent.
