CAIRO – 14 July 2021: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) decided to suspend the work of all banks operating in Egypt, starting from Monday, July 19, on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
A statement issued, Wednesday, stated that the holiday will end on Thursday, July 22, and work will resume on Sunday, July 25.
Eid al-Adha is the latter of the two official Islamic holidays celebrated within Islam. It honours the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of obedience to God's command. Before Ibrahim could sacrifice his son, however, Allah provided a lamb to sacrifice instead.
