Sisi: Egypt keen on reaching maritime border delimitation deal with Greece

CAIRO - 17 December 2019: Foreign interference has been the main problem facing our region over the past decade, Sisi said during his meeting with the media representatives in Sharm El Sheikh, the venue of the ongoing World Youth Forum, which kicked off in the Red Sea resort city on Saturday.

He stressed that the Egyptian interference in Libya and Sudan seeks to serve the interests of both Arab countries, which is essential for ensuring Egypt's national security.

"We are always in support of national state institutions," Sisi said, underlining the state's commitment to preventing any further balkanization of the region's countries, which is a constant of Egypt's foreign policy.

He warned that Egypt will never allow anyone to feel that he can succeed in putting Libya and Sudan under his thumb.

Speaking of the situation in Sudan, Sisi reckoned that the country is on the right track after going through several epoch-making events.

Egypt has also always been keen on maintaining stability in South Sudan, the president noted.

He further emphasized Egypt's interest in resolving the crises in Africa and supporting counter-terrorism efforts in the Sahara-Sahel region even without the country taking over the presidency of the African Union.

Furthermore, Sisi said he attaches great importance to women-related issues and the empowerment of women due to their undeniable role to preserve the Egyptian identity throughout the ages.
