CAIRO – 2 December 2018: The Green River is a new project unveiled by the New Administrative Capital for Uran Development Company and will be executed by the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and Dar Al-Handasah.
The first phase is 10 kilometers long, and worth $500 million. The company will sell the lands on the prospective river banks to the ministry so it would invest them, and raise funds necessary to finance the project.
The Green River will stretch from Cairo Ring Road to the Regional Ring Road passing through the Central Business Park. On its banks, there will be a botanical garden, and a park having the Islamic architecture.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said that all the 20 neighborhoods in the new capital will be linked to the Green River which is meant to mimic the Nile River situated in the middle of Cairo. The area of the new city is 170,000 feddans, while its capacity is 6.5 million.
Forty-five percent of constructions in the first phase of the new capital are completed and 70 percent of lands allocated for that phase are sold. That makes up around 17,000 feddans.
