CAIRO – 9 February 2021: The development of 375 villages is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2021, according to Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala el-Saeed.

“This comes as part of the implementation of the first and second phase of the national project for the development of Egyptian villages, "A Decent Life”,” el-Saeed clarified.

E-Saeed added, in a statement, Tuesday, that it was decided to complete the implementation of the national project for the development of Egyptian villages within 3 years instead of 15 years, in accordance with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

She explained that the project aims to develop 4,300 villages within 3 years at a cost of more than LE 500 billion, noting that the project requires a large volume of investments and the solidarity of state institutions.

The Minister emphasized that this project had not been implemented before in the world.

She emphasized that the project aims to localize industry and use local equipment, in addition to providing job opportunities for citizens and improving their livelihood, describing it as a "huge national project that represents a big leap in growth and the nature of life."

El-Saeed stated that the world is going through the coronavirus pandemic crisis, which has caused a recession, and despite this, Egypt is witnessing a great challenge in developing villages and national projects.

She pointed to the increase in the population of Egypt by about 20 million citizens during the past few years, stressing that the state has put in place a plan for the development of the Egyptian family and the upgrading of the demographic characteristics.
