CAIRO – 14 September 2024: The first phase of the Decent Life Initiative encompasses 7,400 villages and over 3,000 hamlets, announced Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and New Urban Communities on Saturday.

During a press conference held today at the Ministry's General Diwan, he added that this phase is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Engineer El-Sherbiny explained that the second phase of the Decent Life Initiative is currently underway and is scheduled for completion within three years.

He highlighted plans to expand the role of the Building Cooperatives Authority, noting that it will no longer be limited to housing associations but will also support individual and association needs comprehensively.

El-Sherbiny also addressed the importance of ongoing monitoring of utility projects in new cities, emphasizing efforts to resolve issues, particularly in New Cairo. He revealed that utility sector officials are now empowered to engage major consulting firms to oversee maintenance and repair work across various projects, both in new cities and in governorates, through collaboration with water companies.
