CAIRO - 26 June 2024: Egypt's Haya Karima Foundation announced the launch of its comprehensive national campaign to rationalize energy consumption and support the environment, under the slogan “Less consumption, Greater impact.”
The campaign, which is the largest of its kind in Egypt, aims to raise awareness of the importance of energy conservation and its positive impact on the environment and society, and to motivate citizens and institutions to adopt sustainable behaviors and practices.
Buthaina Mostafa, the official spokesperson for the Hayat Karima Foundation, said that this campaign comes within the framework of the Hayat Karima Foundation’s keenness to achieve sustainable development in Egypt, and to contribute to national efforts to confront the challenges of climate change.
She continued: “We believe that energy conservation is a shared responsibility among all members of society.” Every individual has an important role in protecting the environment and securing a better future for our coming generations.”
The “Consume Less High Impact” campaign targets all segments of society, including families, companies, educational and religious institutions, through a variety of awareness-raising and educational activities and events that include:
- An advertising campaign: through various media to raise awareness of the importance of energy conservation and provide practical advice for saving electricity and water in daily life and planting trees in cities, in addition to disseminating sustainable development goals related to the green environment.
- Educational programs: in schools and universities to enhance environmental awareness and instil sustainability values among younger generations, in addition to summer activities and camps.
- Community initiatives: in cooperation with civil society organizations and the private sector to encourage effective participation in energy conservation.
- Competitions and prizes: to motivate individuals and institutions to adopt sustainable practices and publish ways and mechanisms to track energy consumption and provide personalized advice to users.
Buthaina Mostafa stressed that the Haya Karima Foundation seeks, through this campaign, to achieve tangible results in reducing energy consumption, reducing Egypt’s carbon footprint, and improving the quality of life for citizens, calling on all Egyptians to join us in this important national campaign and to be part of the positive change that we seek to all of them.
The Haya Karima Foundation was declared on October 22, 2019 as a non-profit civil society organization, registered in the Ministry of Social Solidarity with registration number 902. The foundation includes more than 45 thousand Egyptian volunteers working in various Egyptian universities as well as in some large commercial store complexes and sports clubs.
Haya Karima initiative also exists on a daily basis alongside the most needy citizens in the remotest villages of Egypt - through its headquarters and volunteers spread across all governorates.
