CAIRO - 25 April 2022: Haya Karima Foundation, which seeks to upgrade the living standards of the Egyptian countryside, signed a cooperation protocol Tuesday with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to launch the “Digital Decent Life” initiative.
Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat said on Monday that building digital capabilities for citizens is one of the main pillars of development.
The protocol aims to end digital illiteracy for villagers covered by the Decent Life initiative nationwide to develop the countryside and change villages into a safe and productive digital society.
The minister underlined the importance of the protocol "to hone digital skills for citizens and help strengthen digital economic empowerment."
Aya el Qamary, head of Hayah Karima Foundation’s board of trustees, lauded fruitful cooperation between the ministry and the foundation to realize the goals of the presidential initiative.
In February, Minister of Communication Amr Talaat witnessed the inking of two memorandums of understanding with Microsoft Company to build the digital abilities of the citizens in the villages of “Decent Life” initiative.
The 1st memorandum of understanding aims at building the digital abilities of the citizens in the villages included in the presidential initiative while the 2nd memo, which is inked between the company and Egypt University of Informatics (EUI), aims at developing methods of education and enabling the university from being ready for the future to be up to the technological development and the demands of university education in the 21st century.
