CAIRO – 14 April 2022: The Ministry of Health and Population announced Thursday that the number of medical caravans operated in March at "Decent Life" villages and other low-income neighborhoods is 162, providing free services to 207,509 citizens.
The ministry sent Wednesday 10 caravans, encompassing all specializations, blood tests, X-ray, and medicines, to remote and low-income areas in Damietta, Beni Suef, Red Sea, Qena, Gharbia, Matrouh, Menoufeya, Aswan, and Beheira. That is in addition to Cairo's alternative-housing neighborhood, Asmarat.
In February, the ministry announced offering free medical services and treatment for 110,702 citizens via 82 medical convoys. The ministry elaborated that 15,950 blood tests were conducted and 23,100 health seminars were held to raise the health awareness of citizens.
These caravans are aimed at facilitating access to medical services for the elderly, children and the disabled, Head of the general administration of the medical convoys Wafaa Sadeq said.
The caravans' destinations were in zones located in 25 governorates out of 27. Those are Aswan, Assiut, Alexandria, Ismailia, Luxor, Red Sea, Beheira, Giza, Dakahlia, Suez, Sharqiya, Fayyoum, Cairo, Qalubiya, Menoufiya, Minya, New Valley, Beni Suef, South Sinai, Sohag, Kafr el Sheikh, Marsa Matrouh, Qena, Gharbiya and Damietta, she said.
