CAIRO - 8 February 2022: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said the State is currently working to provide raw material used in manufacturing pipes and increase the local manufacturing capabilities.

This comes in light of the growing demand on pipes due to the increasing construction projects as well as projects being implemented under Decent Life initiative, Madbouli added.

The premier was speaking in a meeting he held to follow up efforts of providing the requirements of the underway development and services projects, mainly as regards the pipes that are used in implementing the infrastructure projects of water, sanitation and natural gas.

The meeting was attended by Petroleum Minister Tarek El Molla, Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) Abdel Moneim el-Tarras and officials from the bodies concerned.

The petroleum minister said work is underway to secure row material needed for manufacturing pipes as well as increasing the factories’ production capacity and the production lines.

A great boom being witnessed in implementing various development and service projects requires doubling the production of the polyethylene pipes, he added.

Meanwhile, Tarras shed light on the AOI’s efforts to increase the polyethylene pipes production, saying that a contract has been conducted for supplying new production lines to help push their production to 79,000 tons per year by the end of fiscal year 2022/2023.
