CAIRO – 19 January 2022: Decent Life Program Manager at the Ministry of Local Development Walaa Gad al-Karim said Wednesday during the weekly Cabinet meeting that 475 projects – worth LE1.6 billion ($100 million) - have been identified as priority ones as those are markets, public transport stations, and firefighting units.
Gad al-Karim pointed out that 96 percent of land plots required by the whole initiative have been made available by the concerned governmental entities. Hence, 'Decent Life' has acquired by now 4,812 lands plots, and awaits receiving 196 others.
The official equally highlighted that 331civil service complexes are being introduced through the initiative so as the inhabitants of the countryside would not have to travel to cities to procure documents.
The budget allocated to the entire initiative is LE700 billion, and the number of beneficiaries is 58 million dwelling 4,500 villages.
The goals of the initiative are as follows:
Rehabilitating houses, building ceilings for houses that lack them, and building residential communities in villages in need.
Connecting the houses to water supply, wastewater, natural gas, and electricity networks.
Introducing infrastructure necessary for micro enterprises.
Providing medical services, building hospitals and healthcare units, and equipping them with the necessary devices and medical staff.
Operating medical caravans, and offering prosthetics.
Improving the quality of schools, and nurseries, and establishing literacy classrooms.
Expanding economic empowerment, vocational training, and employment through micro, small, and medium enterprises.
Establishing industrial, and craft complexes.
Bolstering food supply chains, and providing subsidized food.
