Don't miss El Sakia's Puppet Theater's tribute to the legendary Om Kolthoum
Nothing and I do mean nothing beats our legendary Om Kolthoum’s magical charisma on stage. But if we can’t have El Set (The Lady) perform anymore, we can at least enjoy El Sakia’s Puppet Theater fifth annual celebration of her legacy of through Om Kolthoum is Back on Stag puppet show tomorrow. This year, titled Amal Hayaty Siret El Hob, the show features Om Kolthoum’s entire band in puppetry; complete with composer Mohamed El Kasabgy, his famous oud and glasses and all the works. It's worth nothing that El Set kept Kasabgy’s chair empty after his death in tribute to her faithful musical companion. The show will feature two of her hit songs; Amal Hayaty (The Hope of My Life) and Siret El Hob (Talking about Love). If you’re not very familiar with Kawkab El Sharq’s (The Star of the Orient) songs, two are more than enough to fill a two-hour concert. Amal Hayaty was written by Ahmed Shafik Kamel and composed by the late composer and singer Mohamed Abd El Wahab, whose collaboration with El Set was a turning point in both artists careers. Siret El Hob was written by Morsy Gamil and composed by Baligh Hamdy. El Sakia Puppet Theater has already featured over 60 shows, including four in tribute to Om Kolthoum and puts on tribute shows to famous artists and musicians like Abd El Halim and Farid El Atrache. Entry for members is LE 5 and LE 10 for non-members. The show will be held tomorrow, February 2, at the Wisdom Hall at 8 pm. El Sawy Culturewheel, 26th of July Street, Zamalek, Cairo.
