At a time when the economy is shaky, to say the least, more and more retailers and advertisers are trying to capture the increasing market of internet users — now reaching around 27 million users. After the January 25 uprising, Twitter, Facebook and the internet in general have seen a massively growing popularity, something the business world has sure taken notice of.One of the first kitchenware manufacturers to launch online in Egypt is our very own Zahran. Now you can call your supermarket to deliver groceries and just log on online to get the pans — doing the household chores seems to be getting more convenient by the minute.
The 45-year-old kitchenware and electrical appliances supplier will be one of the first of its kind to hop on the e-bandwagon, and Zahran Group will start providing full-on e-commerce services through Souq.com, a leading e-commerce store in Egypt. Zahran's new e-store will offer customers a broad range of its self-branded kitchenware, household and electrical appliances, as well as a slew of international brands under Zahran’s umbrella, including Tefal, Brabanita and Soehnle.
In announcing the move to online, the company, which has 12 physical branches across Egypt, said it was aiming to become a key e-commerce player in the country through a partnership with the leading e-commerce platform provider in the Arab world.
"The e-Shop […] enables us to reach out to all our customers across the country while increasing our sales opportunities in areas where we have traditionally had limited reach such as Upper Egypt, which represents over 13% of Souq.com reach,”said Mohamad Alaa Zahran, sales manager of Zahran Group in a press release.
Souq.com was launched in 2005 and is ranked the seventh most popular website in Egypt, attracting over 2 million unique visitors per month, according to website tracking site Alexa. Souq.com targets customers across the Middle East and North Africa and offer a diversified range of products including mobiles, beauty products and fashion.
