CAIRO – 17 March 2021: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi discussed several issued of mutual interest with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis during a phone call, Wednesday.
According to Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Radi, the call tackled Egyptian-Greek cooperation in the economic, security and energy domains.
President Sisi stressed Egypt's deep interest in promoting cooperation with Greece at the bilateral level or under the trilateral mechanism with Cyprus. He hailed the progress realized in the three-way cooperation mechanism.
Both leaders also exchanged views concerning regional issues in the East Mediterranean, including the developments of the Libyan crises.
The Greek premier accentuated his country's keenness on cementing cooperation with Egypt as well as cooperation at trilateral level with Cyprus.
Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with his Greek counterpart, Nikos Dendias in Cairo earlier in March as they stressed on the strong bilateral relations and friendship tying their two countries in all fields.
During the meeting, Shoukry voiced Egypt’s keenness to support the cooperation with Greece in the tourism field and to quickly launch bilateral cooperation in the energy field.
discussed regional issues of mutual concern and welcomed the level of consultation between the two countries to coordinate on the developments in the region, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
