CAIRO- 16 March 2021: Egypt’s Ministry of Endowments announced, Tuesday inaugurating 48 new mosques after finishing renovations.
The ministry added in statement that those 48 mosques raise the total number of inaugurated mosques since September 2020 to (1053) mosque that witnessed maintenance and restoration all over the country.
The mouses are located in several governorates including South Sinai, Beheira, Kafr El Sheikh, Damietta, Asyut, Fayoum, Sharqia and Qalyubia.
The Ministry of Endowments said in a statement last February that a total of LE400 million were spent for the maintenance of ancient mosques in Egypt during the past five years.
Around LE 200 million of the total sum were provided from the budget of the ministries of Endowment and Antiquities, while the other LE 200 million were personal efforts and international grants allocated to the Ministry of Antiquities.
This comes as part of the state’s keenness to maintain its historical antiquities, and the ancient mosques as well.
