Young learners abroad visit Egypt’s parliament museum, know about legislative life

CAIRO – 15 March 2021: A delegation of young learners abroad visited the Egyptian parliament’s museum and library, as part of the government’s plan to raise awareness about the Egyptian parliamentary life in the modern era.

The visit comes as part of cooperation between the Ministry of Immigration and the Youth Party Coordination.

For her part, Ambassador Nabila Makram, Minister of Immigration, praised the collections and memorial photos at the museum, featuring the history of parliament in Egypt.

The Minister of Immigration added that this visit by the young learners is important so that they view this great history, as they will witness the development of the Egyptian parliamentary life in the modern era.

Ibrahim Al-Sayed, Director of the House of Representatives’ museum, said that the museum tells the history of modern parliamentary life in Egypt starting from the establishment of the Supreme Council in 1824 until its last formation in 2011, adding that the museum includes: legislations, laws and treaties concerning the history of humanity.

The Egyptian Parliament Museum is a museum established inside the Parliament building in order to preserve the Egyptian heritage in the field of political, legislative and parliamentary practice.

The museum also includes photographs and oil paintings of Egyptian leaders, presidents and members of parliaments, numerous political and constitutional documents, as well as pictures of council meetings on important occasions such as visits by some country leaders to the council.

The library in the complex building belonging to the annexes of the parliament also contains a large number of Egyptian and foreign legal books.

The Parliamentary Library includes the records of the sessions, which chronicle multiple periods of time, which are underlined by many stories and tales of MPs who have enriched parliamentary life.
