CAIRO – 11 March 2021: Recycling the agricultural waste, Egypt will establish the first factory for Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) wood panels made of palm waste in the New Valley Governorate, announced the Ministry of Environment in a statement on Thursday.

Minister of Environment Dr. Yasmine Fouad and Governor of the New Valley Major General Mohamed Salem Al-Zomlout signed a cooperation protocol to establish a factory for the production of MDF wood from the waste of palm leaves and fronds at a cost of LE 500 million in the governorate.

Fouad said that the construction of the factory could take a year, noting that the goal of the project is not only to reuse agricultural waste, but it is considered an investment model that eases the burden of importing wooden panels.
