CAIRO – 10 March 2021: With the divorce rates are on the rise in Egypt, a national program aiming to keep couples together, stated that 38 percent of divorce cases occur during the first three years of marriage.
Mawaddah program, launched by the Ministry of Solidarity, further added that 15 percent of divorces happed during the first year.
In an effort to address the spiralling divorce rates, Mawadda was launched aiming to train young men and women who are about to marry. The program was approved by the Supreme Council of Universities.
The turnout rate at Mawadda website has recorded dramatic increase during the past two weeks, hitting 600,000 visitors.
“The digital Mawaddah platform addresses methods of establishing and planning a family, in addition to the legal aspects of family relations, as the platform provides 22 video clips presented by 19 experts and public figures,” stated Ra’eda Faris, the director of the Mawaddah project.
The platform has provided training services and all the information required to form a family, pointing out that 38 percent of divorce cases take place during the first 3 years and 15 percent during the first year.
