CAIRO – 10 March 2021: Sczone declared Wednesday that Al Tor Port received for the first time in years a cargo ship. The vessel called TRUST-1 departed from Sudan's Suaken Port and is carrying 11,495 cattle.
The port had been sought only by vessels that carry out maintenance for oil drilling rigs. The seaport spans over 1.6 square kilometer and lies in South Sinai governorate on the east cost of the Suez Canal.
Earlier in March, EU Ambassador in Cairo Christian Berger has voiced the bloc's readiness to provide technical support for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) development projects over the coming five years.
During a meeting with SCZone chairman Yehia Zaki, Berger praised the zone's capabilities as well as its development projects.
Zaki gave a detailed explanation on the SCZone achievements at the level of infrastructure, investments and facilities in the past period.
The zone achieved high growth rates in 2020 despite the Covid-19 crisis, he noted.
After their talks, the two officials toured the industrial developers at the zone, including the Suez Industrial Development Company (SIDC).
