BAGHDAD, March 6 (MENA) - Pope Francis arrived
at Iraq's ancient city of Ur on Saturday to hold a historic interreligious meeting on the second day of his landmark visit to the country.
The visit is Pope Francis' first-ever trip to Iraq.
Pope Francis headed to Najaf airport following his meeting with Iraqi top Shi'ite Muslim cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani. He then left for Dhi Qar governorate in southern Iraq.
Earlier, Pope Francis arrived at the home of Iraqi top Shi'ite Muslim cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani in southern Iraq for the first meeting between the leaders of Roman Catholicism and Shi’ite Islam.
