CAIRO - 1 March 2020: Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled Al-Anani said that a set of draft laws that aims to support the tourism sector is being discusses in the Parliament, with some of these laws ready for issuance, and some still under preparation.

 

Additionally, an international promotional campaign for Egyptian tourism at a cost of $30 million was prepared, according to the minister.

 

Anani's remarks came during his speech in a meeting of the Tourism and Aviation Committee in the House of Representatives headed by MP Noura Ali.

 

It is worth mentioning that the aforementioned draft laws include the draft law establishing the Egyptian portal for Umrah approved by the House of Representatives, the draft tourism licenses law that was completed and sent to the Cabinet, the draft hotel facilities law and tourism, and a bill to establish tourist chambers, and union, and organize tourism companies.

 

Moreover, the minister clarified that the hotel establishments’ bill will include a clear article specifying the minimum price for hotel services.

 

"Another historic bill that we will work on with the Tourism Committee in the House of Representatives is a draft law on tourism crises, which aims to support the tourism sector workers," the minister stated.

 

"We have already prepared the draft law and a proposal that comes into effect one year after the end of the Corona pandemic," he added.
