Parliament concludes 2nd legislative session on Wednesday

CAIRO - 3 July 2017: Parliament Speaker Ali Abdul Aal announced on Monday the conclusion of the second legislative session on Wednesday.

The current stage began on October 4 and witnessed approval of a number of laws and affairs related to politics, social and economic affairs.

Abdul Aal explained that the last two general sessions of the current session will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday.

There are a number of bills and plans , which should be finalized during this week after pending for months such as laws for regulating the press and media, and other economic laws such as general budget law.

The current stage resumed for about nine months as stipulated by constitution, and the next stage is scheduled to start after or within a month.

The Non-Governmental Organization law, anti-human trafficking and illegal immigration law were among the laws approved during the second stage.

Moreover, amendments to the Protest Law, and also agreements such as Egyptian-Saudi border demarcation agreement were also approved in the second session.

Concerning laws related to the country’s economic affairs, parliament recently approved the Investment law, Industrial Permits law, as well the Value-Added Tax law, which is a key part procedure and was required for the state economic reform plan.

Following the conclusion of each session, parliament issues detailed reports regarding its performance during the term months. Parliament started its first session in January 2016 and concluded on September in 2016.
