CAIRO – 11 February 2021: Egypt will receive 300,000 doses of the Chinese coronavirus vaccines soon, said Egyptian President’s Health Affairs Advisor Mohamed Tag El-Din on Wednesday.
In media remarks o “Happens In Egypt” talk show on MBC, Tag El-Din added that Egypt has received 100,000 doses so far. On January 31, 2021, Egypt received the first batch of the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine (50,000 doses).
On February 4, 2021, Health Minister Hala Zayed said Egypt managed to strike international deals to import 100 million vaccine doses of the novel coronavirus in 2021 thanks to its good relations with other countries.
The Ministry of Health announced on Thursday that 610 new coronavirus cases were detected, raising the total number of infected cases in the country to 171,390.
A total of 53 coronavirus-linked deaths were registered over the past 24 hours, raising the overall death toll to 9,804 since the outset of the pandemic, said the Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed in a press statement.
As many as 233 cases were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving the necessary medical care, taking the total number of recovered cases so far to 133,331, the spokesman added.
The ministry has allocated the hotlines, 105 and 15335, to receive citizens' inquiries about the coronavirus and infectious diseases. This is in addition to the WhatsApp number, 01553105105, and the Egypt Health application available on phones.
