CAIRO – 26 January 2021: Egypt is keen on peacefully solving conflicts in the region, and always rejects conspiracies and interference in domestic affairs of countries, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said Tuesday during a hearing at the parliament.

Shoukry showed up Tuesday at the parliament to read out a statement about the implementation of a 2018-2020 government program as requested by the House.

“Egypt has been adopting a foreign policy that is based on balanced, diverse and strategic relations with the aim to achieve public interests and protect the national security,” he told the House.

He stressed that Egypt never accepts conspiracies or any interference in domestic affairs of other countries, and that Egypt’s foreign relations are “based on cooperation and coordination.”

The diplomat affirmed that a three-year government program goes the lines with the goals of the June 30 Revolution, which maintains state stability and balanced foreign relations.

Regarding Egyptian communities abroad, Shoukry said that his ministry acts to help expats through embassies and consulates across different states, noting that the coronavirus crisis showed the strength of diplomatic action.

“The Foreign Ministry works to implement a state vision meant to protect the national security, counter terrorism and to achieve sustainable development,” Shoukry told the House.

While for Egypt’s role in the region, Shoukry highlighted Egypt’s keenness on peacefully solving conflicts in the region, stressing that the Palestinian problem remains the most important cause of all, despite the peace deal signed with Israel.

“The ministry spares no effort to protect the homeland regardless of mounting challenges and burdens,” Shoukry said, as he pressed for coordination between the executive and legislative parties while maintaining their separate authorities
