CAIRO – 2 July 2017: Prime Minister Sherif Ismail inaugurates' Egyptian Women Can' conference on Sunday. The conference is held for two days in Cairo and honors 31 Egyptian outstanding women who succeeded abroad and have extinctive experiences in different fields.

“It’s great that this conference is conducted while we celebrate the anniversary of June 30 revolution, and as this revolution belongs to all Egyptians, and there is no doubt that the Egyptian women played a great role in the revolution that proves their political awareness and will to participate effectively in the future of their country,” Said Prime Minister Sherif Ismail.

“We celebrate the success of Egyptian women abroad upon the announcement by Egyptian president Abdel Fatah al-Sisi that 2017 is titled "Women’s Year” Said Minister of state for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs Nabila Makram in the opening of the conference in Al-Massa Hotel in Cairo.

Makram added that the conference is considered an appreciation for Egyptian women abroad who have a great role in supporting their homeland, they plant the love of Egypt in their children’s hearts, support their husbands and families, participate in the political process by voting at their embassies, and above all they make notable achievements in various domains.

The first session in the conference titled “She and the Government” includes the participation of the four women ministers in the Egyptian government, Minister of Planning and Administrative Reform Hala el-Said, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr, Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Wali and Minister of Emigration Nabila Makram. They will talk about their experiences in the government and how they participate in the decision making process. Also Beheira Governor Nadia Abdu will participate in the discussion as the first woman governor in Egypt. The session is hosted by TV presenter Lamis el-Hadidi, official Facebook page of Ministry of Emigration reported.

The conference comes as part of the “Al Taa Marbouta is your strength” awareness campaign launched by Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW ) during the month of Ramadan to support and empower Egyptian women and highlight the importance of women's participation in all economic, political and social sectors. The “Egyptian Women Can” conference is the second version of the “Egypt Can” conferences, designated for Egyptians living abroad. The conference is organized by Ministry of state for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs, in cooperation with NCW and under the sponsorship of al-Sisi.
