CAIRO – 14 January 2021: Qatar Airways company announced on Wednesday the resumption of its flights to Cairo daily and twice-weekly flights to Alexandria.
The announcement came one day after Egypt reopened its aerospace for Qatar to resume air traffic with Doha following a 3-year hiatus due to the Gulf crisis.
Meanwhile, EgyptAir announced operating a daily flight between Cairo and Doha as of January 18, reported Egypt’s state-owned news agency MENA. The company added that the decision of a 20 percent discount on Cairo-Doha flights will be available for purchasing tickets until the end of January and for travel until February 10.
The decisions of resuming the air traffic between both countries come as a result of the signing of the AIUIa declaration at the GCC Summit held in Saudi Arabia on January 5, 2021, in which the Kingdom announced a breakthrough in ending a bitter dispute between Gulf Arab states and Qatar, with its foreign minister saying Riyadh and its allies would restore all ties with Doha severed in mid-2017.
