CAIRO – 21 December 2020: Two Egyptians have been released as part of 10 ship crew who had been apprehended by pirates on the Nigerian coast, according to the owner of the ship.

The Lebanese owner, Adnan al-Kout, said Monday that the Egyptian nationals are sound and have not been harmed in any way.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said the cargo ship, Milan, was apprehended by pirates during its journey to Cameroon, and that the Egyptian embassy in Nigeria is coordinating with the authorities to bring the crew back to safety after the pirates abandoned the ship.

The Egyptians included a marine engineer and officer. The others included 3 Lebanese and four Indians.

Shorouk Shawky, sister of officer Saad Shawky, told Youm7 her brother called the family earlier on Monday and said he and the engineer Kirolos Samir are both fine and will come to Cairo soon.
