CAIRO – 11 December 2020: Egypt lit up the Giza pyramids and Great Sphinx with blue to celebrate International Human Rights Day on Thursday, said Ashraf Mohy, the Director-General of the Antiquities of the Pyramid Area.
 
Also, the headquarters of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, downtown Cairo, was shining with the letters "UDHR", in celebration of International Human Rights Day.
 
The Foreign Ministry has said Egypt is taking serious and steady steps to promote human rights while proceeding with the march of comprehensive development.
 
This came in the ministry's statement on the Human Rights Day on December 10 which coincides with the anniversary of the United Nations' adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
 
In April 2020, the Egyptian monuments were lighted up in blue with the message “Stay Home” to curb the spread of the new coronavirus (Covid-19) spread.
