CAIRO – 10 December 2020: In the context of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El- Sisi visit to France to strengthen bilateral relations, Egypt’s Ministry of International Cooperation, in collaboration with the French Development Agency, released a 60 second short visual film celebrating forty-six years of partnership and its impact on the development of Egypt.
The short film “Ambition” comes under the Ministry’s Global Partnerships Narrative (People&Projects&Purpose), the third core principle in economic diplomacy aiming to showcase Egypt’s success stories in development through powerful storytelling.
The film was released a day after the signing of additional agreements, as Minister of International Cooperation, H.E Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, and Rémy Rioux, Director of the French Development Agency, signed a comprehensive package of development financing agreements worth 715.6 million euros that are aimed at accelerating the transition to a green recovery and investing in human capital.
The total cooperation portfolio between Egypt and France is worth €7.5 billion and dates back to 1974, covering several sectors including transport and electricity, housing, sanitation, health, agriculture, small and medium enterprises, environment, basic and technical education sectors, according to the ministry.
What is the Global Partnerships Narrative?
The Global Partnerships Narrative aims to redefine communication on development through creative, up-to-date and modern means; fostering engagement with global and local audiences and putting Egypt’s story of development on the global stage.
It focuses on three pillars: People at the Core, Projects in Action and Purpose as the Driver.
For the first pillar, Egypt is committed to improving Egyptian people’s lives through public private partnerships that push Egyptians towards realizing their full potential.
As for the second pillar, projects are implemented with various partners, from international development partners, to governments as well as the private sector and civil society across multiple sectors including in education, transportation, water desalination, renewable energy, entrepreneurship, and women empowerment.
For the third pillar, partnerships with purpose to achieve the 17 SDGs is the key driver to generate sustained and inclusive growth in a rapidly changing world.
Previously, the Ministry also celebrated International Day of Rural Women with UNIDO through the People&Projects&Purpose video series, showcasing the success of the Egyptian Cotton Project in promoting job opportunities among rural women.
In collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Ministry celebrated International Day of the Girl through the STEMs schools project under the ‘People, Projects and Purpose’ narrative.
The Ministry also produced the ‘Beyond Food’ video with the World Food Programme (WFP) ahead of its field trip to Luxor, which was retweeted on WFP’s social media pages as well as the executive director of WFP David Beasley.
