Earthquake hits Cairo, coastal cities at magnitude 5.4

CAIRO – 5 December 2020: An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 on the Richter scale has hit Cairo and other coastal cities on Saturday.

The epicenter of the tremor was inside the Mediterranean, and was felt by residents of coastal cities and Cairo.

The National Seismic Network operates through 70 stations whose locations have been carefully selected to spot all tremors and record them.  

No casualties or damages have reported thus far.
