Egyptian Minister of Defense Mohamed Zaki meets with his Greek counterpart, Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos – Egyptian army spox
CAIRO – 4 December 2020: Egyptian Minister of Defense Mohamed Zaki expressed Egypt’s appreciation of the firm relations with Greece and the keenness of the armed forces’ command to enhance bilateral cooperation and partnership in security and military fields.
These came as Zaki met in Cairo with his Greek counterpart, Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, on Thursday, who is making an official visit to Egypt on the sidelines of the joint military exercise (Medusa-10), taking place in Egypt.
The ministers discussed latest developments on regional and international issues. They discussed issues of mutual concern, in light of the military cooperation and expertise exchange between the armed forces of both countries.
Panagiotopoulos hailed the Egyptian-Greek relations, saying they witness progress in all cooperation fields.
He also praised Egypt’s effective role at the regional and international levels, as well as its efforts to achieve security and stability in the Middle East.
The Greek minister also met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Sisi and Panagiotopoulos agreed on strengthening joint military exercises between the two sides, as well as at the tripartite level with Cyprus, according to a statement from the Egyptian Presidency.
Sisi praised the level of cooperation between the two countries and tripartite cooperative level between Egypt, Greece and Cyprus, which was recently embodied in the tripartite Medusa-10 exercise that is currently being implemented with the participation of French and Emirati forces.
The President affirmed that the tripartite cooperation comes in light of mutual interests in accordance with international norms to bring the security and stability to the Eastern Mediterranean region.
