In pics: Egypt’s Coptic Church launches ‘Raha kids’ to help street Children in Kenya

CAIRO – 26 November 2020: The Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Church has launched a new project in Kenya called “Raha Kids” to serve street children, who were subjected to domestic violence that forced them to take refuge in the streets.

The “Raha Kids” project targets street children in Kenya, who are vulnerable to assaults, and all kinds of humiliation that may reach rape. These children will be integrated into the church community, to be taught life skills, enroll at schools live at homes owned by the church and then serve in the church.

In October 12, Bishop Paul of Evangelism in Africa ordained a new priest for the church in Kenya. The Coptic Church in Kenya established the Coptic hospital in Nairobi, as well as in Zambia in 1994.

It also established the Coptic Hope Center for Infectious Diseases (HOPE Center) in Nairobi, which is a center for the treatment of infectious viral diseases, established by the Coptic Mission in cooperation with the University of Washington in Nairobi.

The center is the only one for AIDS patients in Nairobi's industrial area, and the center has trained many workers and servants to help AIDS patients in Masino, Kenya, and Lusaka, Zambia.
