CAIRO - 26 November 2020: Chief-of-Staff of the Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Mohamed Farid attended Wednesday the main stage of a joint military drill dubbed "Saif Al Arab," - "Sword of Arabs".
The joint drill, which is being conducted at Mohamed Naguib Military Base in Marsa Matrouh, kicked off on Sunday in the Northern Military Zone, with the participation of five Arab countries, plus Egypt.
The participating countries include Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain and Sudan.
Chiefs of staff of the participating armies were also in attendance.
The main stage started with a detailed brief on the training strategy and the topographical and tactical features of the drill location before conducting live fire exercises, which demonstrated the outstanding performance of the participating forces.
Farid gave a speech during which he commended the effective coordination among the participating troops.
On the sidelines of the exercises, Farid also held bilateral meetings his counterparts in the participating states during which they probed ways to bolster military cooperation and stabilization efforts in the Middle East.
The drill, which will wrap up on Thursday, included theoretical and practical lectures aimed at unifying operational concepts, raising the level of military competence and joint work and exchanging training expertise.
It seeks to develop and reinforce military ties between Egypt and other Arab countries.
